Lake Rotorua is a small lowland lake, close to the township of Kaikōura. The lake has high nutrient concentrations and algal biomass volumes and as a result, often encounters cyanobacterial blooms. The lake covers an area of 43.2 hectares, with a maximum depth of 3 m (source lawa.co.nz)
