Lake Kaikereru is one of the Tiniroto group of lakes and is situated to the northern side of Ruakaka Road to the west of Lake Waihau and the Waihau homestead. The lake is fenced to exclude livestock and is 7 ha in area. In 2017 native grass swamp millet (Isachne globosa) were common within raupo beds, and there were remnants of native forest on the northern shore of the lake, with kahikatea (Dacrycarpus dacrydioides) a dominant species (NIWA, 2017).
