      Description

Lake Huro is a large, shallow dune lake sitting between Waitangi Bay settlement and the south west end of the very large Te Whanga Lagoon on Rēkohu / Wharekauri / Chatham Islands. Monitoring reveals the lake has poor water quality with high levels of nutrient enrichment and suffers from algal blooms (ECAN).
