Andrew Rees is an environmental scientist on the Lakes380 team – a paleoecologist who specialises in the study of midge larvae (Chironomidae). Midge head capsules can be found in the lake mud that is pulled up in sediment cores, and so midge larvae are proving an effective tool for looking at the impacts of temperature change and climate change in our ecological past.
